About CPEC what a wonderful place!
To All the CPEC Families,
I wanted to let you know about a very special visitor that CPEC had yesterday and to give you an indication of the calibre of Centre your child attends.
Dr Wing-Kun Tam, President of Lions International which has over 1.35 million members, visited us to hear a proposal that would see the wonderful CPEC programs exported all around the world.
Dr Tam was in Melbourne for 18 hours, and during that time our Centre was the first visit he made and the only visit he made to any charity or organisation like us.
As well as having the President visit which alone was a massive coup, we also had the Second Vice President visit and it is the first time the two of them have made an official visit in Australia together. We also had many other Lions representatives who are very excited about CPEC and willing to work with us together to try and get the Education and Training Programs running.
It is easy sometimes when you come to the Centre regularly to forget how special it is but seeing this meeting today where one of the most influential people in fundraising in the world was excited by what he saw (and if you imagine how many proposals he hears day in day out) and everyone in the room could see how special a place we have, it really does put it into perspective and reminds you that we are lucky to have CPEC and the staff of CPEC here in our own backyard, as well as that every so often we should acknowledge the commitment they make.
The person responsible for that visit was our CEO Garry Prigg. Garry put in an enormous amount of work and also did work that a CEO usually wouldn’t do, including tending to the garden at 7.30am yesterday morning to make sure it looked its best for the visit. Garry worked with the Lions Club on a proposal that will hopefully generate a new income stream for CPEC. It will allow the world to access the Early Intervention Programs that are so successful.
Thank you also to Claire for the presentation she gave where you could see and hear the dedication she has to the children who attend CPEC. I was watching her give her presentation and showing her photos of your children and I wanted you to know how deeply she wants your children to succeed. How lucky we are that even with all her success to date she is still so committed to ensuring each and every one of your children can learn to be as independent as possible. CPEC are also very grateful to Gayle and Lyn for the amount of experience and enthusiasm they bring to the Centre every day.
To the parents who had their children with them at CPEC when Dr Tam visited – he said it was the most enjoyable part of his visit and wanted to thank you for making an effort to meet him.
